If I had to teach someone about anything, I would teach them about art, more specifically, how to draw. In this essay, I am going to explain exactly how I would teach them, how I would go through it step-by-step with the person I am teaching.
To teach someone how to draw, I would start with the basics. Sketching. For example, the human body. I would start them off with the head, or rather, a circle. I would then show them how to form the face, the cheeks. Next, would be the neck, followed by the shoulders and down the arms to the wrists, hands, before we finally had a body. There would be no real detailing here as of yet.
Next, I would have them clean up the lines, and start with the facial features. I would help them form the nose first, seeing as how it is the easiest thing to draw when youre first learning, hands and feet being the hardest. I would then show them how to draw the eyes, where to place the pupils for which way they wanted their person to be facing. This is also where they would decide the gender of the person they are drawing.
After the face was finished, wed add clothes to the person. Showing them, through examples, through pictures, using myself as a model, for where the folds in the clothes go, for how the clothes should not appear to be strangling the person in the picture.
Then, Id teach them how to ink. Any sort of pen or marker will do. Black, in my opinion, is best. Blue is good too, though. I would help them go over their hands, the nails, the shoes, the pants. Every little spot on them. Now, depending on if you used a pen or marker, once the ink dried, the old sketching would be completely erased. Thus leaving only the clean, line-art of their picture.
As soon as all of that was done, I would teach them about shading. Using the same pencil they just had, I would lightly sketch out where they wanted the light to be coming from next to the person, and show them that the shadows should be opposite from where the light is coming from.
Then, if they wanted, I would show them my style on coloring by traditional means, and help them find their own style, theyre own way of doing it. I would show them how to use the colored pencil, marker, or what ever a little darker on the shaded areas, and lighter everywhere else.
I hold a strong passion for art and enjoy every type of art. To me, art is not simply something I fell into, it is my life, what I do, who I am, the reason I exist. Art is not something you just one day do, you are born knowing art, loving it, craving it. Everything is a beautiful masterpiece created with careful, steady hands, and gorgeous detailing, that took much practice and many years.
Art is comfort, stress relief. Art is a friend, a helping hand, someone, or something to turn to. Art to me, is a gateway. A way to free your mind, soul, and yourself. Art is there for you when you have no one else. Art can bring light into your life, it can cause happiness, sorrow, anger, jealousy, regret and so many more emotions. Art is a way of life, not a hobby.
This is the exact reason why I would teach someone art, how-to-draw. To help them, and teach them. To allow them to find a happier, new way of life.</FONT></FONT></SPAN>
